Mar 1, 2013 at 3:44 PM
Hi Folks,

The Release notes for the version 2.0 of Web And Load Test Plugins indicate the below features. Release 3.0 is targetted towards VS 2012. Has anyone used the below features in Release 3.0 with VS 2012

Visual Studio Addin – Additional tab in Web Test Result that shows Request and Response in hierarchical view side by side. Using this user can add extraction/validation rules on response messages and parameterize requests
XPathExtractionRule (ExtractionRule) - XPath based extraction rule that works with XML, JSON and MSBin1
XPathValidationRule (ValidationRule) - XPath based validation rule that works with XML, JSON and MSBin1

Thanks

I have used version 2.0 for a long time doing almost all of the items you state.

I have just today loaded 2012 and the 3.0 version and I can say that #1 is working. I cannot attest to the others yet, except to say that I know the paramter substitution in binary bodies does not work.

Thanks!

The request/response hierarchial view working should be very useful . Loadrunner has this capability by default I dont know why they did not make it available in VS Ultimate instead of through plugin thought they could have added tis capability to 2012 version. Anyws thaks for yor response

There is a bug in the V3 release. The webtest context parameters are not correctly replaced. I submitted an issue on this.
Issue: WebTestPlugin not parsing parameters

Does anyone know, or can anyone tell me whether it's possible to use this plugin or make it work for Visual Studio 2013? Is this a quick update for the updaters or something i can easily "hack" myself?

We are working on that presently. It does not have the WiX folder built for 2013 in the current package. I am awaiting the developer to give me an updated package to test it out….Should be soon J.

Thanks!

Thank you for your response! That is great news, I’ve made myself dependant on this plug-in for a project I’m participating at. It’s a pretty big deal, I’m running performance tests for one of the first fully digitalized examination applications for a private finance school here in Norway.

Do you think it will be available around new years or shortly after?

I am hoping for that. The developer is within Microsoft and works in the India facility. But she is buried in projects at the moment.

I use it daily for a Silverlight application in the healthcare sector in the USA. I have some planned improvements to it that will be forthcoming after the new year…..

Thanks!

Great to see the new release!

Anyway, I'm having an issue with an encoding of a JSON-value that is a URL, it seems like the extracted results gets encoded, which I don't want it to, cause I need to use the URL web request that comes later in the test.

This is what the URL should look like:

https://censoredURL02.blob.core.windows.net/oppgave/e1845046-3423-4240-83b2-d954d58be206?sv=2013-08-15&sr=b&sig=%2BrTM9io96laa7iVSO3hIW6FgxKi2zRC4cVFyQrxPYos%3D&se=2014-01-24T14%3A50%3A10Z&sp=r

This is what the plugin extracts:

https://censoredURL02.blob.core.windows.net/oppgave/e1845046-3423-4240-83b2-d954d58be206?sv=2013-08-15&sr=b&sig=sAUlPcF/JnXuK1uLUy6opa6spDyohOGRtvD5TE4UYB8=&se=2014-01-24T18:53:45Z&sp=r

Any quick solutions to this?

edit: yes. Got it
